Isaiah 55:1–2

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread, — and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, — and you will delight in the richest of fare.

A week's worth of groceries are on the belt. You hear the register beep when each item gets scanned. But when you pull out your card to pay... the total is $0.00. How would you feel?

God invites you to fill up on what he offers without cost. His mercy comes at no price to you. His love is completely free.

Because someone jumped ahead in line and paid —

Your brother Jesus already stepped up and paid the bill in full.

What does it feel like to come to God empty-handed, with nothing to offer — does that come as relief or does it make you uncomfortable?

If there's a hole in your bucket, it doesn't matter how many trips you take — you're not gonna move much water. There's a problem with what you're trusting. You can't fix a broken cistern. But God isn't waiting...

Exodus 17:1–7 ...The people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. Read the context It's easy to forget the difference between...

John 4:13–14 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Read the context You know the feeling... you worked for it, earned it, achieved it. And it still left you empty. Success, approval, comfort fill you up just long enough to make you thirsty again. Jesus doesn't tell you to dig deeper or try harder. Chasing...
