Genesis 32:25–26

When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. Then the man said, β€œLet me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, β€œI will not let you go unless you bless me.”

What made Jacob strong enough to wrestle God? It wasn't his muscles or savvy... It was what he held on to:

He wouldn't let go until God fulfilled his promise.

Prayer is a moment to wrestle with the promises of God. The strength of your prayer isn't about you... It's about God.

So hold on to what he's promised: his constant presence and forgiveness.

Based on last night's sermon from Genesis 32...

Prayer is the Christian wrestling with God’s promises. When do you find the most struggle aligning your heart to God’s will in prayer?

Acts 16:13–15 On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. β€œIf you consider me a believer in the...
