The Lord reigns above them all.

Psalm 96

Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; — bring an offering and come into his courts.

Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; — tremble before him, all the earth. Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”

The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; — he will judge the peoples with equity.

It's the USA's 250th birthday. It's a patriotic day. I bet you'll even see fireworks to celebrate. It's significant!

But funny enough, other nations have existed this long... and longer... risen... failed... disappeared. But one thing remains: the Lord reigns.

Every nation that has ever existed shares the same creator and Lord. What's worth celebrating today is more than 50 states and 250 years — it's the eternal name and nation that you're a part of:

With people from all times and places, you belong to the Lord!

As you celebrate our nation today, what does it look like to keep your deepest identity rooted in Christ's eternal kingdom?

Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Read the context When's the last time you arm wrestled? By the end your arm is shaking from the effort. You can't give in. The way the Christian views things is like a wrestling match against the world. Don't give in. The world wants you to conform to thinking it's about you. But what is...

Daniel 3:17–18 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Read the context "Even if he does not..." Three men faced death, but their allegiance to God wasn't contingent. They simply trusted. I often set up guard rails for serving the Lord — "If he gives me...

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Read the context Walking with the Lord can often sound like the harder way. Why wouldn't you choose something easier? Don't forget this though — everyone serves something. That's what Joshua wanted...
