He runs on ahead.

Luke 1:13 & 17

But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. ...

And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

The messenger arrived at the city out of breath, but ready to share important news: the king was coming.

John the Baptist was sent ahead of Jesus to prepare them for the Lord. What did people need to do?

He called for repentance — for hearts which turned from sin and toward God.

God sends you out now with the same message: make a path for your coming Savior!

What rough places in your heart resist the Lord's coming? What path has Christ already cleared for you through His death and resurrection?
