Patience and prayer.

Habakkuk 2:1–3

I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.

Then the Lord replied:
β€œWrite down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

The prophet Habakkuk had no idea when God would respond to his prayers of frustration. But God promised to reveal his plan at just the right time: Not too early. Not too late.

Waiting is hard, but it’s not always bad. While you wait for God's answer to prayer, go back to his promises again.

After all, he has shown that he will answer at just the right moment β€” Look at the cross and empty tomb for proof: At exactly the right time, Christ came for you.

When have you felt most challenged while waiting for God to answer a prayer? How is the cross your comfort in that moment?

Habakkuk 1:2–4 How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? β€” Or cry out to you, β€œViolence!” but you do not save. Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted. Read the context When the prophet Habakkuk looked at the world around him, it felt like God...

Hosea 3:4–5 For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or household gods. Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days. Read the context The Israelites chased after everything but God. But no matter how far away they walked, God was ready to welcome them back in his mercy. Do you ever feel like that distance...
