Shepherd... and lamb?

Rev. 7:15–17

They are before the throne of God
and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne
will shelter them with his presence.

‘Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat.

For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”

The best leaders are forged through struggle and hardship. They know what their people have to go through.

Your Shepherd doesn't lead as a tyrant — he leads you as the Lamb. He is the one who walked toward pain and sacrifice for you.

And in heaven he will be your gentle shepherd.

Look forward to following your Shepherd and Lamb. He will lead you to peace.

What comfort do you find in having a God who not only understands suffering, but also knows how to address it?

1 Peter 2:23–25 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Acts 2:42–47 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. ... Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.
