The throne of David elevated.

Acts 2:32–36

God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,

“‘The Lord said to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.”’

"The sun never sets on the British Empire." During the colonial era, kings' power spread across the world.

But even the most powerful empire doesn't hold.

The cross appears to be defeat for your King. For anyone else, this kind of death would end their rule.

But for Jesus it's just the start.

Jesus' death and resurrection mean that he sits above every enemy — sin, death, and the power of Satan.

You know who's in control.

How would you describe Jesus' rule over our spiritual enemies to someone? Why is this rule good news?

1 John 5:1-4 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
