Thank God for: children and families.

Mark 10:13–16

People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

When parents brought children to Jesus, the disciples saw a distraction. Jesus saw what God's kingdom is about—what the world finds small is deeply treasured by him.

Through the everyday work of parenting and growing up, God blesses families. He entrusts eternal souls to imperfect hands, and there's grace in that. It's a picture of what he's done for us—building a relationship on simple, childlike trust.

The world often overlooks children, but God doesn't. Where else do you see God treasuring what the world overlooks?

Philippians 1:3–6 I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Read the context Church isn't just a weekly gathering—it's a family God has established to bear one another's burdens and advance his kingdom together. Through shared faith, distance...

Psalm 65:9–11 You care for the land and water it; —you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water — to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; — you soften it with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with your bounty, — and your carts overflow with abundance. Read the context Dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and a turkey. The table is covered in food on Thanksgiving. None of it...

1 Timothy 2:1–4 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. Read the context Paul encouraged believers to pray for a government that persecuted them. Why? Because God uses even what appears bad for good —...
