A distinguishable voice.

John 10:7–10

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Sheep are often described as unintelligent... but they know one thing for certain: the voice of the shepherd.

Not every voice that calls out for your spiritual attention is for your good. Many sound like Jesus, but carry a message that can damage the soul.

So how do you know who to listen to?

Listen to the Good Shepherd first by knowing God's Word.

Your Good Shepherd will always keep you safe.

What makes Jesus' voice better than any other voice you could listen to in this world?

Acts 3:13–15 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. Deut.18:17–19 The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him. I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name. Read the context When God wanted to speak to his people, Moses was his mouthpiece. But even the great prophet was a mortal and a sinner. Another prophet was promised. In...
